We all know C-3PO as the golden and somewhat cowardly droid who is "fluent in over six million forms of communication!" It is possible to think that his emotional personality is reasonable, but the Star Wars trilogy does take place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, and our current technology is incapable of making a robot with complex enough sets of variables to create emotional reactions that make the machine feel a certain way while dealing with it's problems. Emotions are in fact a part of the human condition, as we are just more intelligent life forms than most, and this gives an added complexity of our nervous system dealing with our problems, big or small, and makes our reptilian brain react dramatically to the situation. A robot cannot have a complex enough computer system to replicate certain parts of a developed human brain to create emotion, along with droids, because they are just the same thing as robots.
